Copyediting and Proofreading

I have experience copyediting and proofreading a wide variety of texts, including:

• Short story collections
• Poetry collections
• Creative nonfiction
• Informative nonfiction
• College-level STEM and humanities textbooks
• STEM lab manuals
• Magazine articles, including technical content
• Content written by nonnative English speakers

In addition, I would love to expand into copyediting novels.

Style Guides

In my freelance editing work, I typically adhere to:

• The Chicago Manual of Style (17th ed.) or the AP Stylebook
• Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary

I am also used to adapting to various house style guides.

Substantive Editing

I have experience performing substantive editing on materials such as:

• Magazine articles
• Marketing articles

I am happy to do more in-depth editing on projects when requested. I am comfortable rearranging information, restructuring articles, and rewriting material.

I do not offer developmental editing on fiction, poetry, or memoir.

Writing

In addition to my personal fiction writing, I have written articles for Concrete International (nonbylined) and CoatingsPro Magazine while working as a full-time editor on these publications.
